Helicobacter pylori breath test

The test is necessary to identify the pathogen Helicobacter pylori, which causes gastritis, ulcer and stomach cancer. The study is carried out using the indicator tube of the Helic test system, and it does not take much time. The test can be carried out even for young children, since the examination is completely painless - during the test, only the air exhaled by the patient is checked.

The Helicobacter pylori test is the primary method for diagnosing this infection and a way to monitor the effectiveness of the treatment already carried out. The test is prescribed by a specialist in the Department of Gastroenterology K+31.

The sensitivity of the Helik digital test system is 95%, and the accuracy of the results is approximately 97%.

How is Helicobacter pylori tested?

The Helicobacter pylori test is very simple. The stages of the examination are as follows:

  • The doctor gives you an indicator tube that is inserted into the mouthpiece. You need to place the mouthpiece in the oral cavity and hold it with your teeth. Breathing should be even, mouth slightly open. If saliva has accumulated in your mouth, you can carefully remove the mouthpiece, swallow the saliva and place the mouthpiece back.
  • After 6 minutes, you remove the mouthpiece from your mouth and drink the urea solution.
  • Place the mouthpiece with the indicator tube in your mouth again and exhale for another 6 minutes.
  • At the last stage, the tube is given to the doctor and sent for a laboratory test.
  • Helicobacter pylori test results are extremely important. They provide an opportunity to choose an individual treatment for each patient, and further monitor its effectiveness.
