Indications and contraindications

Medical pedicure by a podiatrist in Moscow is carried out against the background of the presence of cracks, calluses (core calluses) and corns. Additional indications:

  • Ingrown nail
  • Thickening of the skin (usually this occurs against the background of hyperkeratosis)
  • Chronic fungal or bacterial infections
  • Slow healing wounds
  • Serious damage to the nail plates
  • Repetitive inflammation

Medical pedicure is not performed against the background of the development of infectious foot diseases in the active phase. It is not prescribed if there are open wounds in the area to be treated.

Additional contraindications include allergic reactions to drugs used during treatment, hemophilia, neoplasms on the feet and acute dermatological diseases.

Stages of medical pedicure

Medical pedicure is performed by a specialist podologist. The procedure does not require any special preparation. Unless, a week before the session, you need to refrain from using exfoliating or anti-inflammatory agents. Therapeutic tactics vary depending on the cause.

Ingrown nail

The process begins with a gentle softening of the nail plate and anesthesia of the adjacent tissues. Next, the specialist carefully removes sharp edges and ingrown areas of the nail.

In some cases, in order to correct nail growth, the podiatrist uses special plates or titanium threads. Their use prevents the risk of re-ingrowing nails.

Keratosis

At the beginning of treatment, the podologist softens the rough skin, after which he carefully removes dead cells using a scalpel and blades, trying not to damage healthy skin.

The next step is thorough sanding of the leather. This is achieved using specialized devices with ceramic attachments. Abrasive files are also used. After this, the specialist applies moisturizing and regenerating agents to the treated areas.

Core calluses

Cryodestruction is usually used to remove them. This procedure involves freezing the callus with liquid nitrogen. This helps reduce the risk of callus reappearance.

Also, core calluses are treated with:

  • Laser destruction. It allows you to completely destroy the structure of the callus
  • Hardware impact. Using a milling cutter with abrasive attachments, the podiatrist completely removes the callus. Then antiseptics are applied to the treated areas: their use helps prevent the risk of inflammation

After the procedure, the podologist provides a consultation and gives recommendations for home care. In particular, treating the feet with a pumice stone or scrub helps prevent the risk of recurrence of calluses.

Hyperkeratosis

To soften keratinized skin, keratolytic compounds are used. After this, the specialist removes the keratinized cells mechanically - using a scalpel (local anesthesia is first performed). He then grinds the seals using milling cutters.

Onychomycosis

Treatment involves hardware removal of the affected areas of the nail. After this, the specialist treats the healthy parts with specialized antifungal agents.

Effect of the procedure

Medical pedicure helps improve foot health. In particular, they sweat less and stop flaking. Additional effects:

  • Restoring natural skin color and nail aesthetics
  • Reducing discomfort when walking

Medical pedicure does not involve decorative nail treatment or application of varnish. The main objectives of the procedure are to prevent the development of diseases and comprehensively restore the health of the legs.
