Hearing aids used to restore hearing have the ability to collect, amplify and modify sounds.
Each such device consists of three elements. The telephone (speaker) presses on the eardrum, thereby creating sound waves. The amplifier increases the strength and quality of the sound signal. The microphone converts environmental sounds into electrical signals.
There are 3 types of hearing aids:
- Behind the ear. The simplest devices. They are intended for open prosthetics with an external receiver.
- Intra-ear. Such devices are placed directly in the external auditory canal. This allows them to transmit amplified sound directly to the eardrum. These devices are very small, almost invisible.
There are also in-canal devices on the market. They are placed inside the ear canal and remain invisible to outsiders.
