On December 13, 2013, a conference of endocrinologists dedicated to the main thyroid diseases was held at K + 31 Medical Center. The main topic of the conference was the problem of iodine deficiency goiter in the practice of the endocrinologist at the present stage. The meeting was held as part of interactive communication on problematic issues related to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of this pathology.
The high prevalence of iodine deficiency goiter in many countries of the world, including in our country, requires a detailed study of the concept of diagnosis, treatment and prevention. The main goal of this approach is, on the one hand, to reduce the frequency of iodine deficiency goiter by improving the epidemiological situation, and on the other, to prevent redundancy of the examination and unjustified therapeutic and surgical treatment, which significantly reduces the quality of life of patients.
The conference touched on modern aspects of the morphogenesis of iodine deficiency goiter, stages of diagnostic measures and the possibility of various types of treatment. The main emphasis of such interactive communication was the rejection of the use of outdated approaches in the diagnosis and treatment of this pathology at the present stage. Indications for radical treatment are determined, and the possibilities of minimally invasive technologies and their “niche” in the treatment of nodular goiter are discussed.
The conference was attended by endocrinologists of the southwestern administrative district of Moscow. The conference on the problem was led by Ph.D. Kim Ilya Viktorovich.
