Oncology round table at K+31 West: “Treatment of cancer patients requires the effort and diligence of all doctors”

The clinicK+31 West hosted a round table for oncology doctors and representatives of patient organizations. Experts from different regions discussed how to jointly improve the quality of life of cancer patients.

“The round table was organized so that we could share experience not only within our team, but also at the level of interregional cooperation,” explained Vladimir Gennadievich Elishev, General Director of K+31 West, “In oncology, the doctor-doctor relationship is very important.” The topic of the round table was somatic and rehabilitation support for an oncological patient at the stages of treatment and follow-up.

Cancer patients need competent support from the moment of diagnosis to remission or transition to the palliative stage. The better we support a patient on the path to recovery, the more fulfilling his or her life will be after treatment. After all, directly fighting cancer is not the end of the road.

At the round table, experts talked about the possibilities of rehabilitation of patients at different stages, and during a tour of the clinic they became acquainted with the capabilities of the oncology department K+31 West. This is not only the most modern equipment and a team of professionals, but also the organization of all processes so that at every stage the patient is fully surrounded by care. Irina Borovova, President of the All-Russian Association of Oncology Patients “Hello!”, noted that comfort is very important not only for cancer patients, but also for their families.

Igor Aleksandrovich Merkulov, MD, Deputy Chief Physician for Oncology K+31 West, said about the tactics of managing patients with severe concomitant diseases, including elderly patients who find it difficult to even undergo oncological treatment.
